As I paid a visit to the New Paltz night scene, I was impressed by the jazz music I was hearing while I walked down Main Street. Hoping to find out where the music was coming from, I checked the cafes and bars. I finally realized that it was coming from an apartment just above a cafe. Jazz music flowing out of the window, I could see the drummer play and the rest of the band grooved to the music. I had to find out who they were.
Phantom Mustache - a new jazz band made up of three SUNY New Paltz students (Ben Saldinger, Connor Larkin and Justin Michael) that began playing together for a short time and already have the quality of a potentially great jazz band in the making. All music majors, their style is classic yet with a funk twist. They already have a few originals and are working on more material. If you're in the New Paltz area, their performance is a "Must See".
